  • Rev. Dr. F. Willis Johnson

    NOMINATIONS CHAIR

Nominations and Leader Development committee help to identify and encourage the congregation for spiritual leadership and transformation.

Scripture Reference: Acts 6:3 (CEB) “Brothers and sisters, carefully choose seven well-respected men from among you. They must be well-respected and endowed by the Spirit with exceptional wisdom. We will put them in charge of this concern.”

  • Denice Taylor

    LEADERSHIP CHAIR

As leadership chair I work alongside the pastor, the lay leader, other council members and the congregation to fulfill the vision and the mission of the church while also assisting in implementing the three foci of passionate worship, radical welcoming and prophetic witness. As leadership chair I also coordinate the activities of the leadership team and encourage each leader to maintain a healthy and spiritual life.

Scripture Reference: Galatians 6:9 (NIV) “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

  • Angela Evans

    STAFF PASTOR RELATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIR

The SPRC is chair and members are nominated by the nominations committee. We report directly to the Pastor and District Superintendent. Our charge is to strengthen relations between staff and congregation and the congregation and District Superintendent. This is accomplished by listening and opening communications. We can disagree without being disagreeable, disrespectful, rude and discourteous. As we try to live and speak in such a way as to draw others to us, so that we can make disciples for Christ.

Scripture Reference: Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

  • Mitchell Harper

    LAY LEADER/DISCIPLESHIP FORMATION CHAIR

Discipleship Formation is both an individual and collective opportunity to not only foster a deeper relationship with the triune God, but also continually learn to emulate the righteous example of Christ. It requires personal and community reflection, introspection, and accountability. Through intentional relationship building, a willingness to learn, and an abundance of grace, this formation can take shape in many unique forms. Yes, there will be small/prayer/accountability groups and Bible/book studies, but there will also be chances to assess and discern things like spiritual gifts and unique ministry opportunities that align with the unique skills of every image bearer and the needs of the community. As we learn more about each other, we see the special ways Christ manifests in one another, and we compel each other to keep growing in Christ together.

Scripture Reference: Matthew 28:19 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations…” NLTDescription goes here

    MISSION AND OUTREACH CHAIR

Outreach is the practice of looking beyond yourself to the people around you and sharing the love of Christ as you serve and connect with your community. The Mission and Outreach Ministry identifies opportunities for the congregation to use their skills, talents, and abilities to invest time and energy in supporting the community. The Ministry aims to be a bridge between the church and the community through service, mentoring, and prayer. All are welcomed to join and participate in Mission and Outreach activities such as volunteering at local schools, mentoring, special service projects and Justice Ministry activities.

Scripture Reference: Luke 14:23 “And the Master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.’Description goes here

The trustees function as stewards of the property of God. This includes overseeing, supervising, and maintaining all the church property of the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and all legal requirements related to the property are satisfied.

    WORSHIP CHAIR

The goal of the Worship team is to move the concept of worship beyond the walls of the church. Our weekly acts of service (liturgist, choir, sanctuary setting, technology) are a small part of how we reflect the importance of living a life of worship while being a church that lives out the three foci of radical welcoming, prophetic witness and passionate worship.

Scripture Reference: Psalm 122:1 “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.”Description goes here

    CARE MINISTRY CHAIR

The focus of the Care Ministry is to be led by the Holy Spirit to respond to the needs of people through efforts of hospitality, spiritual support, emotional encouragement and appropriate forms of short term assistance. Members of the Care Ministry Team will have the opportunity to participate by leading the congregation in offering a welcoming hospitable environment where all are welcomed without question or assumption and all are seen and heard.

The Care Ministry engages in and offers activities and events for the congregation by recognizing that the church has many unique groups each having their own needs- emotional, spiritual and physical.

Scripture Reference: Proverbs 3:3 “Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.”Description goes here
